BSIS Security Guard Requirements

As you know, one of your requirements of your license is to maintain your guard card in good standing. Praetorian USA also has a stake in this, as if you are working without a valid license, both you and the company can be fined. We want to support you, and help with this process, so we have created an on line database, to track your license, and make sure you stay on top of your requirements.

Once you take your Powers of Arrest class, and receive your Guard Card, you are still required to take 16 hours of training in security officer skills, within the next 6 months. We want to support you, and keep you up to date on your requirements. Therefore, if you have worked at least 1 shift in the last 30 days, we can offer you the continuing education classes you need absolutely free. The required classes are:

Public Relations Communications Liability Observation & Documentation Each one of these classes are worth 4 hours, and once completed and passed, we will issue you a certificate. We will also note the completion in our database. These classes are able to be completed at home and will not take you 16 hours to compete. After the initial 16 hours worth of courses, you have another 16 hours worth of course to complete to be complaint. You must have all four of the mandatory classes above completed, before you can take any of the below, but just as before, these are offered to Praetorian licensed guards for free:

Trespass Handling Difficult People Preserving the Incident Scene Crowd Control Parking and Traffic Control Radio procedures Chemical Agents

Workplace Violence

Driver Safety

Courtroom Demeanor Lastly, a requirement of your license is that you do a “refresher” course once per year, every year you maintain your guard card. You can retake any of the classes mentioned above.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping your license up to date. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Compliance Manager, Kristen Schutz at compliance2@praetorianusa.com
